In 2014, Weindich General Partnership – the organizer of the Gastrosilesia fair – hosted exhibitors from home and abroad, as well as the crowd of invited professionals from HoReCa sector and others, for the third time in its premises ( 8 Adamiecki st in Chorzow). Among the guests, there were also experts and companies, which set standards and trends in the catering industry.
Gastrosilesia Fair is a non-commercial event (all income is intended for the organization of trade fairs). The honorary patronage over the event has been granted by: Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Economy, City of Chorzów and the Association of Euro-Toques Poland.
A short summary

We have tried to support Silesian gastronomy and with full responsibility, we can already say that today our efforts have been very successful. We are pleased by commonly expressed opinion that organized by us trade fairs is one of the most important meetings of industry professionals.” – Says the owner of Weindich – Mr. Jerzy Weindich.
Eat Polish apples!
During the fair we supported the campaign “Eat Polish apples” from a group of fruit growers La-Sad. Apples were present everywhere, both on stage at the stands of exhibitors as well as a conference room or in the culinary center.
Seminars and lectures
Industry seminars and lectures we held in conference rooms all day, on how to acquire and maintain client, how to obtain public funding in the catering industry, or about the techniques of healthy nutrition in the budget and how to compose a healthy menu and reduce costs by minimizing losses.
Star of Top Chef
The faces the media campaign of the fair were the winner of the second edition of the TV program Top Chef: Sebastian Olma and its participant Paweł Kibart. Chefs showed their skills during two days of cooking demonstrations.
Culinary demonstrations carried out by the Chefs Association of Euro-Toques Poland “Hanysy vs. Kaszubi” (Tomasz Nowak and Sebastian Humski vs. Marek Fisheries and Mariusz Gachewicz). The duel for the best dish and regional flavors ended up with deserved draw!
1st Silesia Culinary Cup for catering schools
Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated points of the fair was a rivalry between catering school. Selected in the way of qualifications 6 teams from the Silesian region bravely fought for the 1st Silesia Culinary Cup.
The composition of the jury were: members of the Association of Euro – Toques, known culinary authorities, and culinary experts from various regional cuisines and more: Wieslaw Ambros (Jury Chairman), Dariusz Wojcik, Krzysztof Gawlik, Marek Rybacki, Szymon Szlendak, Mariusz Gachewicz, Sebastian Humski, Silesian School Superintendent and a representative of the organizer – Adam Wagner.
The winning team of the School of Commerce and Gastronomy in Bielsko-Biala received: 1st Silesia Culinary Cup, a voucher worth 3000 zł to be used for the purchase of catering equipment and a choice of internship: the Hotel & Restaurant Marysin Dwor in Katowice or in one of the hotel chain Sylehotels: Arsenal Palace. Silesian School Superintendent founded a special prize for the best food and the winning team from Bielsko-Biala. Second place went to the School of Agricultural Training Centre named by the 1000th anniversary of the Polish State in Naklo Silesian, and the third place went to School named by Tadeusz Kosciuszko in Żarki.
Demonstrations held in the exhibition halls at the stands of exhibitors and the stage all the time:
- Bartender performed by Krzysztof Drabik, three-time Polish Champion in the freestyle bartender show, European Champion and International Champion of China;
- Molecular cuisine both at the Culinary Center and on stage, performed by culinary expert Krzysztof Gawlik, aroused admiration and interest;
- Gastro fashion – waiter, bartender, cook fashion presentation;
During the show, the latest technologies and solutions designed for the modern gastronomy. Guests could in practice get to know advantages of mobile catering container systems, self-service, and also get legal advice, architectural or sanitary were presented.
